Building a High-Concurrency Memory Game Platform for Indian Memory Sports
The Challenge
Jaysimha from Indian Memory Sports had approached 3-4 different development teams before reaching us, but none could deliver what he needed. The application required was deceptively complex: memory games where each test contained over 3,000 individual fields that participants had to interact with, and the platform needed to support 1,000+ members taking tests concurrently without any lag or data loss. Previous developers had built prototypes that crashed at just 50 concurrent users. The core challenge was memory management — loading thousands of interactive elements per user while maintaining performance across a thousand simultaneous sessions.
Our Solution
We took a fundamentally different approach. Instead of loading all 3,000+ fields at once, we designed an intelligent chunked loading system that renders only the visible portion and pre-loads the next section. We implemented WebSocket connections for real-time test synchronization, Redis-based session management for handling concurrent users efficiently, and a queue-based system for processing and storing results. The backend was optimized with database indexing, query caching, and connection pooling to handle the massive concurrent load. We also implemented progressive data saving so that even if a user's connection dropped mid-test, their progress was preserved.
The Outcome
The platform successfully handles 1,000+ concurrent test-takers with zero crashes and sub-200ms response times. Each test with 3,000+ fields loads smoothly with no browser freezing. Indian Memory Sports went from having no working platform to hosting national-level memory competitions online. The platform has since been used for multiple tournaments, certification programs, and training sessions. Jaysimha was able to scale from in-person-only events to a national online presence, growing membership by 400% within the first year.
